Bunny Girl in a Dotty Dress

What could be cuter than your own tiny knitted rabbit? Jan will guide you through each step to creating your unique and personalized bunny including clothes! If you need a boy bunny, his clothes are available as an extra pattern.

In this workshop, you'll learn to seam small toy components, add features to face, placement of ears, picking the correct yarn (see Jan in the days prior to the class), and how to properly stuff a small toy.

Tartan and Tweed Tam or Beanie

Tartan & Tweed mitts have impressive Fair Isle Looks with utmost simplicity.  A little like tartan, a little like tweed, the fabric is interesting as it is uncomplicated.  Seamless construction continually stranded around without having to cut or weave in any ends but for the start and finish.

Also included in this workshop is a nice beanie option rather than the tam.

In this workshop you'll learn stranded knitting in the round, magic loop, trapping colors, choosing appropriate needle for your gauge, reading very simple color charts, choosing shape and color-ways for a unique project.

The Star Crossed Slouchy Beret

If you have never knit cables or even if you consider yourself an "old hand" at them, this class is for you!  "The Star Crossed Slouchy Beret" by Natalie Larson.  The pattern is free on Ravelry.

Knit this darling, loose fitting cable hat in chunky weight yarn and size 10 needles for a fast, fun, cable-crazy item for gift giving or for yourself.  Hats are not just for the snow and cold, but are great fashion statements as well.

Martha will teach you how to join neatly in the round, cable like a pro and decrease to finish the hat with ease.

Fortune's Shawlette - Crochet

Two Sundays February 12th & 26th  12:00-2:00pm  $40.00*

This gorgeous and easy to learn triangular shawl will work up very quickly for gift-giving or for yourself.  Scrunch it around your neck for snuggly warmth or stretch it our to cover your shoulders on a chilly evening.  Its even easy to enlarge for a more generous shape.

Crocheters with a very beginning knowledge of chain, single crochet and double crochet will learn to make this fast project by learning the beginning five rows and then repeating the fifth row for the entire piece. Lots of help will be given!

Daphnaie

A beautiful and lacy shawlette worked at a loose gauge has wonderful drape.  Never boring, lace and leaf patterns echo nature and wrap you in luxury. This internmediate pattern will be taught with many helpful hints as well as blocking instructions.

Students will learn the provisional cast on, reading lace charts, transitioning from chart to chart, advanced increases and decreases and helpful use of markers.

Boteh Scarf - Crochet Workshop

Boteh Scarf has been crocheted by well over a thousand admirers. Each motif moves flawlessly into the next which gives a swirled, paisley effect for a wonderful and flattering drape. Use a neutral solid to throw on often, or a magical colorway to make a fashion statement for any solid top.

This scarf is for the advanced beginner who has confidence in trying a second or third project.  Double-triple stitch will be taught, as well as the very important method of construction, pattern reading and even edges.  A chart is enclosed in the pattern and students will learn how to utilize this all important "map"!

Melrose Wrap or Scarf - a Crochet Adventure!

One Saturday, February 11th 12:30-3:30pm  $35.00*

Melrose is a long scarf or wrap designed to showcase multi-colors of yarn. It can be crocheted by a very new corcheter, as it only uses three stitches.  The pattern is extremely versatile so however much yarn you have - that is what you can use.  Only the width will be affected by the yardage.  

Prerequisites:  Students need to know how to crochet a very long chain, as that will be the homework.  For the sample - 414 chains were made.  The stitches to be learned in class are the 3 triple cluster and linked triple stitch.

Koigu 9 color kits will be available beginning Tuesday, January 17th.  Other yarn suggestions are 2 zauberballs or 2-3 skeins of handdyed fingering yarn.

Have you ever tried to knit two layers simultaneously on the same needles? Even to experienced knitters, it seems like magic. With colorwork double knitting, you can create fabulous designs on both sides of the work. Experience what it's like to knit without labor-intensive weaving in or twisting of colors, without rolling edges and ugly ends.

We’ll begin our double knitting adventure with a coffee cup cozy, where you’ll discover how to knit both sides of the fabric simultaneously and change yarn colors, as well as learn all the techniques required for creating the Remember Cowl. Very shortly thereafter we’ll move onto the beautiful, reversible Remember cowl itself.
Double knitting isn't just wishful thinking - once you learn the technique, there's no stopping you.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN: two-color Italian (tubular) cast on, two-color double knitting in the round with patterning, texture in double knitting (various size bobbles, reverse Stockinette), reading double knitting charts, tubular bind off, Kitchener stitch.

PREREQUISITES: confident knitting and purling, knitting in the round (Magic Loop method), simple decreases.

Top Down Socks

Three Sundays, Jan 15th 1:30-4:30, Jan 29th 1:30-4:30, February 12th 1:30-3:30pm  $60.00

Knitting socks is great fun and can be addictive! Once you've made your first pair you'll wonder how you ever managed without them. In this workshop, you’ll learn all the basic (and not so basic) skills you need to knit a top-down sock, from casting on to turning the heel to work¬ing the gusset to finishing off the toe. You will knit your first pair of real sized adult socks with a fingering weight yarn. Cookie A.’s famous and fabulous Monkey Socks, featuring lace, are an oldie but a goodie. Over 20,000 Ravellers couldn’t be wrong, right?

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN: knitting in the round using Magic Loop or dpns, how to make your socks fit perfectly, working a heel flap, picking up stitches for the gusset, gusset shaping, Kitchener stitch, chart reading, simple lace knitting, swatching for knitting in the round.

PREREQUISITES: student must be very comfortable with cast on, knit, purl, and yarnover.

                        

Weave a Scarf!

Two Saturdays January 14th 1-5pm and January 28th 2-4pm  $75.00*

Learn how to weave! Come find out how to interlace your threads on a rigid heddle loom. In this class you will learn how to dress your loom, i.e. direct warping, winding on, tying on, spreading the warp, and weaving plain weave.  Part One is a 4-hour class with a little break halfway through.  You will start weaving in class and finish weaving at home. Part 2 is a 2-hour follow up class after you have woven your scarf so Michelle can show you how to take it off the look and finish it.

Skill Level: Beginner

Class is limited to 4 students.  Looms will be available for purchase Dec 7th.

Waverleaf Shawl

Two Thursdays, November 17th & December 1st 5:30-8pm  $30.00*

This shawl has some great construction and shows off the colors of yarn beautifully! We will use German short rows to make waves of color and then use a two-color bind off to make a little braid between stripes of color. Great way to use left over yarn or choose a brand new color pallet and you are ready to go.

African Flower - An Introduction to Animals & More

One Saturday, January 21st 12:30-3:30pm  $25.00*

Crochet an African Flower and you can now create everything from a giraffe to a dragon.  If amazing stuffed animals aren't your thing, these motifs assembled like a puzzle, can make a fabulous baby blanket or purse! Another workshop will be announced at a later date to learn assembly of the motifs.

In this workshop you will learn to begin in the center, move outwards, change colors easily, hide ends and successfully make a motif.  You'll learn to change the beginning to make 5, 6, 7, and 8 sided flowers and sewing them together. Each student will consult with the instructor for help on number and shapes needed for finished piece.

Prerequisites:  this class is for a crocheter who knows chain, sc, dc at the minimum.
